Project Overview
Project Details
On October 31, 2024, Southern Natural Gas, L.L.C. (SNG) and Elba Express Company, L.L.C. submitted a request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to initiate the pre-filing process for the proposed South System Expansion 4 Project (Docket No. PF25-1-000).
The South System Expansion 4 (SSE4) Project, currently in the preliminary survey phase, aims to expand SNG’s South Line capacity by approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d). This $3 billion project will address rising power generation and local distribution demands in Southeast markets. SSE4 will primarily involve brownfield looping and horsepower compression enhancements on the SNG and Elba Express pipeline systems. Pending necessary approvals, the project is expected to commence operations in late 2028.
