Project Details
About the Project
In partnership with the City of Lee’s Summit, MoDOT will build a new interchange and replace the bridge at the north Route 291 junction with U.S. 50 Highway. The project also includes relocating the north outer road (Blue Parkway), upgrading 7th Terrace, and making improvements along U.S. 50 Highway. The project will be completed in collaboration with the City of Lee’s Summit and other entities.
Estimated Cost and Funding
The project is estimated to cost $25 million. Funding comes from MoDOT’s statewide cost share program, with additional funds from a City-initiated TIF and other state partnerships, cost share, excise tax, and sales tax.
Traffic Impacts and Timeline
The project aims to enhance traffic flow and safety at the Route 291 (north) and U.S. 50 Highway interchange, addressing current congestion and safety issues. It will also support redevelopment, multi-modal access, and replace aging infrastructure. Currently in the planning stage, the project is set to go out for bid in fall 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
