The NKY Gate Enhancement Project is a $429 million, 31-mile natural gas pipeline modernization initiative by Columbia Gas Transmission spanning Northern Kentucky and Hamilton County, Ohio. It aims to improve regional energy safety and reliability by replacing vintage 1950s infrastructure with modern, 36-inch steel-coated pipelines.
Local challenges include property owner concerns regarding construction disruptions and the loss of historical “farm tap” direct connections. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) environmental comment period, which deemed the project unlikely to have significant environmental impact, remains open through August 31, 2026.
