Project Overview
Project Details
The Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project (MPRP) is a critical grid enhancement awarded to PSEG by PJM, spanning approximately 70 miles across three counties. This 500 kV transmission line aims to bolster electricity reliability in Maryland and surrounding areas. PJM identified the need for system reinforcements due to overloads, prompting the 2023 competitive window. PSEG evaluated existing rights-of-way to minimize impact on populated areas, wetlands, and parks. After winning the bid in late 2023, PSEG began a detailed routing analysis, involving stakeholder consultations and public feedback via an interactive map and survey. The project is slated for Maryland Public Service Commission approval in late 2024, with service expected by June 2027.
