Project Overview
Project Details
Gateway West Segment D spans 488 miles from the Windstar Substation near Glenrock, Wyoming, to the Populus Substation near Downey, Idaho. It is divided into three parts:
1. **D1 (Windstar to Aeolus)**: A 230-kilovolt (kV) line, 59 miles long, under construction and expected to be operational by 2024.
2. **D2 (Aeolus to Bridger/Anticline)**: A 500-kV line, completed in October 2020.
3. **D3 (Bridger/Anticline to Populus)**: A 500-kV line, 200 miles long, scheduled to be operational by 2028.
This segment will facilitate electricity transmission from existing and new resources, including wind.
The Populus-to-Hemingway project, part of Segment E, includes two 500-kV lines over 500 miles, improving system efficiency and reliability, with a completion target of 2030. Segment E8 involves a new 128-mile 500 kV line from Midpoint Substation in Jerome, Idaho, to Hemingway Substation in Melba, Idaho.
