The portion of US 30 that travels through Valparaiso is set to receive a facelift–in the amount of almost $23 million–if completed.
INDOT awarded the contract for design of the upgraded road to Beem, Longest and Neff, LLC for $2.2 million in late December, sparking the beginning of the project.
What actually will be a part of this project remains to be seen, but intersection improvements appears to share a large portion. City Engineering Director Tim Burkman said intersection improvements will include drainage work, curbs, gutters, decorative lighting, landscaping, pedestrian crossings and decorative signal arms. Burkman said BLN will look at signal timing, additional turn lanes and other improvements.
It is unclear at this time how much land will be needed to complete the project.
