The long-debated, much maligned South Suburban Airport planned for Peotone, IL reached an important milestone last week by submitting its layout plan to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Governor Pat Quinn also asked the Illinois General Assembly to allocate the remaining $70 million for land acquisition pertinent for the Project.
What Does this Mean for the Landowner?
It means that efforts are getting ramped up, and Peotone should see a lot more land acquisition agents walking around over the next year.
Right now, land acquisition is in a bit of a lull. No reported sales have been completed since late spring. The only sales going on are via “willing sellers” and no authority is exercising its eminent domain authority yet.
With the SSA seemingly starting to throttle up its efforts, getting in touch with an experienced eminent domain attorney early is becoming crucial.
