Citing a broken budget, Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner officially pulled the plug on the proposed $1.5-billion Illiana Expressway project.
At least for five years.
Rauner announced late Tuesday that he removed the project from the Illinois Department of Transportation’s multi-year project list, effectively shelving the project through at least 2020.
