Public hearings held on Grain Belt Express project

The Missouri Public Service Commission held a public hearing to discuss the Grain Belt Express, that is to be a clean energy source line.  The Director of Development states, “We’ll provide enough power to run over 200,000 Missouri homes with low cost, emission free energy.”  The Director of Development further believes with this project the good outweighs the bad.

This is a 750 mile system that would collect wind energy in Kansas and transmit energy through Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana, yet not everyone is on board with this project. One person states that they should have a vote in this project, because the clean line would require infrastructure that could reach heights of 200 feet and would likely be placed on farmers land.  This would affect their farms and their way of life.

A final decision on the project will come around the beginning of 2015 by the Missouri’s Public Service Commission.
