Plans are underway to widen Lake Cook Road between Hastings Lane and Raupp Boulevard to six lanes to improve traffic flow and safety in Buffalo Grove.
An engineering study is expected in late 2013, early 2014 will finalize Phase I of the project. The Buffalo Grove Village Board also approved an intergovernmental agreement with Cook County this month to begin Phase II, which will create the designs for the project. The cost is estimated at $53.5 million for construction, right-of-way and engineering, Monico said. The village will be responsible for utility relocation, and that cost has not been determined, he said. Construction could begin in 2016 and last through 2018.
