Grain Belt Express developers says Illinois unaffected by Missouri rejection

A regulatory setback in Missouri does not affect plans for the Grain Belt Express transmission line in central Illinois, an executive with the project developer said Thursday.

The high-voltage line would cross portions of nine central Illinois counties.

Members of the Missouri Public Service Commission voted 3-2 on Wednesday to reject that state’s portion of the power line, which would carry wind-generated electricity from Kansas through Missouri and Illinois to Indiana. Regulators in Kansas and Indiana have approved the project. An application is pending with Illinois regulators.
