The Eastern Corridor Program involves a number of transportation projects in the Cincinnati area and its eastern suburbs. These projects range from intersection improvements to roadway relocations to new transit rail. In the recent months, a few of these projects have begun to move forward.
Eastern Cincinnati residents are beginning to voice their concern over the planned projects. Mariemont residents are one particular group that has voiced considerable opposition. Residents are concerned because the Eastern Corridor Program proposes to pave over areas of the community along the Little Miami River that they have come to love. Included in the area in controversy are resident created community gardens and a park full of nature trails.
ODOT plans to hold public meetings in the near future to give residents an opportunity to voice their concerns and provide feedback. The dates are not known at this point, but the meetings will likely be held after the new year.
