Eastern Bypass in Illinois Narrows Route Options

IDOT has narrowed the options for the proposed Eastern Bypass to four as state officials begin discussions with Federal Transportation Department members about funding for the massive project.

The Bypass, also known as the ring road, would start I-74 near Morton, travel northand west across the Illinois River and connect with Illinois Route 6 north of Peoria.

Still very far from construction, the proposed project is anticipated to cost approximately $1 billion.
