At the end, the proposed continuous flow interchange for the Randall Road widening project didn’t even have a shot.
Instead, the McHenry County Transportation Committee will present to the County Board a more traditional design for the Algonquin Rd/Randall Road interchange improvement–one that does involve continuous flow (or federal funding).
One of the reasons the proposed continuous flow interchange was so popular was the promise for federal funding that came with it for pollution mitigation. Nonetheless, the CFI was almost universally rejected by village leaders and local officials.
