Indiana Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Bob Alderman’s comments about the proposed Illiana Expressway were asinine.
This will neither connect nor build community. Rather, this project will destroy and divide the communities, destroy the clean air in the “build” area, destroy the wetlands that are being rebuilt, and drain money that could be used elsewhere. The congestion will not be relieved because no one will use this toll road when there are free options to move about the region.
This is not an “expressway.” It will not diminish local’s travel time but rather increase it. This is a toll road. The tolls will be taken out on our community, environment and the future generations that will never know the beauty, bounty and blessings of this land that holds a special place in so many of our hearts.
Support the no build option.
