The Ohio Department of Transportation has said it is close to purchasing the first parcel of land for the eventual Chesapeake Bypass project. ODOT is in discussions with approximately 12 landowners at this time.
Land acquisition on this project has been a long time coming due to funding delays over the past few years. ODOT is taking things slowly at this point, but this is a positive sign that things will begin moving forward soon. No eminent domain suits have been filed at this time.
