The South Suburban Airport Conference (SSAC) vowed, in the wake of leader Jesse Jackson Jr.”s absence, that it will take over leadership activities for the proposed South Suburban Airport and intends on pursuing the disposed Jackson’s pet project aggressively.

SSAC President Rev. James Hunt said the South Suburban Airport is bigger than any one person.  “No one person can make it happen and no one person is going to stop it,” stated the pastor of New Hope Christian Community Church located in the south suburb of Monee IL.

The SSA submitted its draft layout of its plan to the Federal Aviation Administration in September and shortly after, Governor Quinn called for the Illinois Assembly to appropriate the necessary $71 million necessary for land acquisition.
