Project Details

The proposed project will widen and reconstruct US 41/19/SR 3/Tara Boulevard (US 41) from just south of Tara Road to CR 1337/Flint River Road in Clayton County. The proposed construction will provide additional capacity to accommodate the increased peak hour travel along this facility. The proposed project is approximately 3.5 miles long. Approximately 3.1 miles of the existing US 41/19/SR 3/Tara Boulevard from Tara Road north to South Avenue is a four-lane divided roadway with a 32-foot depressed grassed median. The remaining 0.4 mile segment of the existing US 41/19/SR 3/Tara Boulevard from South Avenue north to CR 1337/Flint River is six lanes with a 54-ft depressed grass median. The proposed project will widen the existing roadway to six lanes while maintaining the existing median width and add a 10-ft multi-use path along the west side of the project. Existing median breaks and left turn lanes along the corridor will also be improved. The proposed project design speed is 55 miles per hour. The proposed roadway improvements will be constructed within the existing right-of-way (ROW) of approximately 200 feet except in areas required for the construction of slopes.
